Defending against attacks from left

This parry is used against left attacks, in contrast to outside blocks. Again counter with the closest part of the body which will be the left arm, (for left handed, the right).  Start with the hands in the normal position for the fighting stance, then slide the blocking hand smoothly down, turning at the wrist to sweep away to lower left.  The principle is the same as for the outside block: meet the opponents strength-punch or kick-and lead it away. The left hand drops sharply, so its more important than ever to guard the face with the right.
